Why this matters
A door thickness alone is rarely enough for a reliable selection. The lock must work with the complete door or cabinet assembly, the operating environment and the way people will use and manage it.
What to confirm
Provide clear photographs and dimensioned drawings of the door leaf, frame, lock pocket, strike position and existing hardware. State indoor or outdoor conditions, corrosion or dust exposure, temperature, operating frequency and any cleaning or maintenance constraints.
A practical working method
For managed or electromechanical openings, describe users, permission groups, key hierarchy, power supply, control signals, monitoring contacts, communication interfaces and the required power-loss behaviour. Mark unknown items as open questions rather than guessing.
Records, acceptance and handover
The final selection should be returned as a door-point schedule or configuration list that identifies assumptions, selected models, accessories, exclusions and items requiring project confirmation.
Evidence and scope
This article is intended for preliminary product and project discussions. Product functions, performance, certification, compatibility and availability must be checked against current documentation for the selected model and the actual project requirements. Application examples are not claims of completed customer projects.
